19th birthday

tuesday i awoke late in the afternoon, as a birthday treat to myself. i emerged from my bedroom to see something that i have dreamt about for years: A TRAIL OF DIET COKE.

it led me from my bedroom to the coffee table, where a bag of reese's peanut butter cups awaited me. huzzah!

my roommate kristen had decorated the apartment the day before, with green streamers, pink balloons, green and pink ribbons, and matching notes for me.

i took a refreshing birthday shower and got ready for the night

a bunch of friends came over; kit and kenneth's bunch brought me a pinata!

we took that beast outside, and i tried to pound it, but i ended up breaking the stick instead. so i whacked the head off, and dumped out the candy.

then we came inside and played imaginiff, which reminded me of when josh and sydnee and i would hang out and go to grandy and grandad's house and play.

then, we ate a tasty chocolate cake that kristen and rachel made with crushed heath bar on top. mmm.

later on, rachel and kristen and i decided it would be fun for us to go to spark, which is this little restaurant/lounge place that is way too cool for provo, but i love it.

they have all kinds of fruity mix drinks there, all non-alcoholic.

after being seated, it turned into a scene from a movie. the waitress came up to us and said, "the three gentlemen behind me wanted to buy your drinks for you. and they wanted to come talk to you, if that's okay." so of course i said SURE! so we got our drinks (kristen-strawberry lemonade, rachel-rootbeer, me-lycheetini). the guys came over and turned out to be pretty nice. unfortunately, i gave them my number and they won't stop texting me to hang out, but it was worth it. i mean, we got free drinks out of it, so it was a winning situation.

it was really weird to not be with my family and sydnee on my birthday for the first time....ever. but it still turned out to be a successful day. my mom sent me a cute jacket, and socks. sydnee sent me a talking card (which, by the way, has been a huge hit. oui oui oui oui oui has become a popular saying in the apartment) and a journal, a buddha from her hm, and season 8 of friends. i watch it and think of you, bff. and the grandparents sent $$$, which is practical and needed.

my birthday was great, and i believe that this year is also going to be great.
